Interviewing
 | The Keys to Interviewing: The Second
Interview Purpose:
The purpose of the second interview is:
 | For the employer to gain further information on the
candidates personality and technical skills |
 | For the employer to see if the candidate will be a good
"fit" within their company culture. |
 | For the candidate to investigate the organization. |
Things to consider
 | Make sure you are clear on the following information before
the interview!
- The name, title, business address, and phone number of the
person coordinating the trip.
- Airline itinerary and hotel arrangements including
transportation arrangements, maps, etc.,
- Clarify how expenses will be paid or reimbursed before the
visit.
|
Preparation
 | With the logistics of the event completed, it is time to
prepare for the visit. |
 | The candidate should review their strengths, goals,
accomplishments, etc., in relation to the position and company. |
 | A thorough analysis of the company and its industry
should be done.
 | This research should include the companys annual report,
industry publications, journals or newspaper articles. |
 | The candidate should speak with individuals who work for the
company (use the Career Information Network in the Career Education Center) but not the
individuals directly involved with this visit. |
 | Another avenue for research is speaking with individuals who
have done business with or are in competition with this company. |
 | Know the business; its mission, goals, business
philosophy and management style. |
