Resumes that get results
 | Resume Headings
Resumes generally list information under specific headings. The order of these
headings is dependent upon what you have to offer and what the reader wants to hear.
1. Identifying information at the top of the page includes name,
address and phone numbers. This section may also list email or an Internet address..
2. The Objective should be clear and concise and should focus on what
you want to do within the organization.
3. Education - Whether you are a seasoned professional or
recent graduate will determine where to put this heading in your resume. Employers
prefer to see relevant work experience listed before education.
4. Work Experience is an important section of your resume.
You can go back ten years and list job experience from that period but shouldn't include
high school experience.
Additional headings might include:
Relevant Experience - work
that is related to the job for which you are applying
Licenses and Certifications - that are related to the position
Skills - such as computer software, training, sales, organizational,
communication, strategic planning or other technical skills related to the position
Internships and/or volunteer work
Class projects
Professional affiliations - related to your field or organizations where you held
a leadership position
Publications and Presentations
Military
Computer skills
