How to market yourself

Resumes that get results

Your resume and technology

Increasingly, resumes are being scanned by employers electronically to "read" your resume. If you know that a particular company will scan your resume, follow some basic rules:
Use standard fonts such as Times New Roman or Arial
Have a good laser-printed copy, unfolded
Use standard, well known abbreviations
Use solid bullets
Avoid using:
Italics, fancy scripts, underlining
Graphics or shading
Complex layouts and columns
Lines of any kind
Mail resume flat - do not fold
Use KEY words that can usually be taken from the job description. (An employer might do a key word search for resumes that fit specific needs.)
