Data Analytics
Working with data is becoming a growing area in many organizations, including nonprofit work. With extensive knowledge of various computer systems, applications, and software, data analysts are able to collect and process data in order to solve problems, tell stories, and improve decision-making in organizations. The ability to work with data can be highly valuable in the nonprofit field and ultimately further serve the mission and vision of that organization.
Volunteer Management
Many nonprofits are able to serve their mission and function by individuals who volunteer their time and resources to that organization. An important piece to having a robust volunteer team includes volunteer managers, often paid positions, that recruit, train, lead and support these volunteers. Depending on the organization, the volunteer management role may include various functions within the role, and require certain experience, education, and skills. Often these roles include qualifications such as individuals who are committed to the organization mission, have strong written and oral communication skills, and are quick to learn administrative and technical skills as needed.
Grant Writing
A grant writer is an essential role to many nonprofit organizations. Grant writers may research available grants and donors, write proposals that advocate for the cause of the organization, and various other tasks that support the mission of the nonprofit. Although qualifications to become a grant writer may vary by organization, important training and skills can include strong research and writing abilities, marketing, and a background in budgeting and fundraising can be highly valued.
