An interview is your opportunity to describe your qualifications and your passion for healthcare. However, there is a common mistake recent graduates and even experienced professionals in the healthcare field make when interviewing.
Remember, the interview is your chance to stand out from other candidates and demonstrate you are the best fit for the particular role. Most candidates will identify their passion for helping others as the main reason why they should be hired. While this is an important quality to have; the hiring committee hears that answer all of the time. Not exactly the response that will make you stand out in a sea of candidates.
When interviewing for a health-care role, think outside of the box! What else is important when providing direct patient care?
Let's take a look at an example of this. There is a saying in direct patient care roles; if you didn't document it, it didn't happen. Documenting each patient’s progress is a crucial part of any role within healthcare, so do not forget to discuss your experience in this area. This is your chance to highlight your awareness for role responsibilities and tie them back to your strengths. This demonstrates your awareness of the full scope of the position and what it takes to be successful.
Being prepared is the key to your success in any interview. So what are you waiting for? Prepare yourself to get the healthcare career of your dreams.
