Talent Match is a great opportunity to get involved in Barrett, meet other service-minded students, and make a difference in a young person’s life. The program creates one-to-one mentoring relationships between honors college volunteers and 4th and 5th grade students from the Phoenix Collegiate Academy (to learn more about this unique public charter school in downtown Phoenix, visit http://phxca.org/). The program runs from 4:15 – 5:30 each Thursday afternoon during the fall and spring academic semesters. The Barrett student volunteers spend the time sharing a special skill or talent with a child. Past activities have included musical or sports lessons, dance, cooking, photography, painting, drawing, singing, acting, chess, short story writing, and a variety of crafts; we are always open to new talents! The children are bused to ASU so that they may have exposure to a college campus and see firsthand all of the amazing things ASU and Barrett have to offer. Often these youth do not have the opportunity to participate in organized activities of this nature.
